The Value of Ignite Photography Workshop and Retreat in Northern Michigan

Ignite Workshop and Retreat is going to be worth every penny and then some! To put things in perspective I thought I’d share some average costs of things that we are including in our workshop for just $1500 total.

Five nights accommodations at a 4 Star Hotel ($130 each) – $650.00
Four days of eating, drinking and snacking out and about – $150.00
Two 1-1/2 hour Business Workshops ($250 Average each) – $500.00
Two 3 hour Hands on Workshops ($300 Average each) – $600.00

The average total cost for four days and five nights – $1900.00

That $1900 is just an estimated average cost and doesn’t include the value of having unlimited access to workshop leaders for four days, meals together, campfire chats, one on one business and portfolio reviews, a cocktail party, fun photo shoots and so much more!

Plus we’re staying on a lake with water access and we’ll be just 10 minutes from Lake Michigan. Can you beat that!? I don’t think so.

Workshop Session Details

Our workshop leaders are so excited to get to know all of the participants at Ignite! and to share their knowledge and expertise.

Jennifer Grant is a business expert and will be leading two workshop sessions focusing on the business end of professional photography. Jennifer’s first session will focus on your business foundation starting off with a personal business review of your business. From there, you’ll begin to tackle the ways you can streamline your business to make it even more manageable. From having multiple checking accounts to integrating online contracts and agreements, nothing will be off topic when it comes to making your business easy to run.

Jennifer’s second session is Vision + Voice and what it means for your business. Do you ever feel like your work is awesome but no one is noticing or you don’t know how to translate that into something unique and marketable? This is the session for you! Jennifer will be focusing on your unique style and what that means for your business. From where to advertise and what your website looks like to wording and pricing, your photographic vision has an impact on the business side of things. Jennifer will be there to help you translate it into a winning combination.

Liesl will be teaching our first workshop on Monday afternoon and is our psychology major. Liesl will be covering the basics of the psychology of composition, how our mind subconsciously responds to images, and how we as artists can use this to improve our visual communication to the world. Liesl will also speak on how to relate well to your clients and understand how to help them be themselves in front of your lens. There will be shooting assignments with group discussions afterward and one on one portfolio reviews with anyone who wishes.

Steve is the photography veteran of this group with nearly 20 years of professional photography experience ranging from the commercial automotive industry in Detroit to modern weddings and portraiture. Steve will be focusing on defining your personal style and then during the hands on part of his session he will be demonstrating how to get 10 great portraits in 10 minutes. There will be plenty of time for all participants to work with the models and have fun working on “style”.

The Fantastic Mr. Fox

I might be a little biased in my opinion here but I think that Steven Fox is an amazing photographer with a passion for people.  I can say this because I work with him for about 75% of his weddings and sessions and I continue to love watching him interact with people while he captures and creates beautiful moments and images. 

Steve will be leading a hands on workshop focusing on style and technique. He will also be participating in portfolio reviews.

Retreat!

Ignite is more than your average workshop, it is a retreat as well.  Just think of it this way – five days of relaxing, a lot of learning and plenty of fun and food.  We hope that if you’re feeling a little less than “on fire” that we can help ignite your passion for creating beautiful images once again.  It is our desire that everyone who joins us leaves feeling refreshed and inspired.

We get to stay in some gorgeous lakefront vacation homes in the beautiful countryside.  We will have lake access to enjoy, pontoon boats and kayaks to explore the lake, a fire pit by the water and so much more.

We have planned plenty to keep you busy but much is optional and you can take all the time you want to just kick back and relax.  We’ll spend many meals together and evenings around the campfire where we can talk life, business or anything else that comes to mind.

Welcome to Ignite!

Ignite Workshop is designed for professional photographers who desire a chance to network, relax, recharge and grow with other photographers in beautiful northern Michigan.

Whether you are relatively new to professional photography, need a change or some inspiration this workshop is for you.  We will spend time relaxing together and talking about the business and have some fun photographing each other and others.  Plus we have some incredibly wise, talented and fun photographers lined up to teach and talk with you throughout the week and in one on one portfolio and business reviews.
